Pastor Derek is Associate Pastor over Congregational Life and Young Adults. Derek earned an undergraduate Marketing Degree from Olivet Nazarene University in 1990 and then moved south, where he met and married his wife, Amy Foster Mitchell. While attending NFCN, they had three children (Moira, Mason, and Merilyn) and felt the call to ministry where Derek served as Children Pastor, Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor of Discipleship. After Derek was ordained in 2005, he was Lead Pastor for 9 years just outside of Atlanta GA, then Executive Pastor for 7 years just outside of Memphis, TN. Derek & Amy are thrilled to be back home at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene for a new era of God’s work among the people of Nashville.
