When Rev. J.O. McClurkan founded Nashville First Church of the Nazarene in 1897, little did he know that 124 years later we would still be a church of 1000 strong, and that approximately 45 percent of our congregation would be Senior Adults. Over the years it has been the wisdom, strength, experience, and sense of humor of our Senior Adults that has seen us through many wonderful days, and some not so wonderful days! God has been faithful, and he has used Senior Adults in a mighty way to bless Nashville First Church.
At First Church we never marginalize or minimize the importance of individuals who reach a certain age—as if to say that Senior Adults are no longer useful, important, or relevant. Rather we depend upon Senior Adults to be vitally involved in every facet of building, equipping, and operating a church that has a VISION FOR CHRIST. Our VISION is TO RECEIVE THE LIFE OF CHRIST, TO SHARE HIS LIFE TOGETHER, AND TO EXTEND HIS LIFE TO OTHERS, WITH PASSION!
If you are a Senior Adult who loves the Lord, and who loves His Church, we have a place for you and we need you here at First Church! If you are a Senior Adult who desires to know the Lord better than you do, this is a place where God may be found, and where his people will reach out to you in Christ’s Love.
