From the first century onward the task of mature believers has been to teach and model (disciple) young Christians into the full stature of Christ. In Ephesians 4, the apostle Paul gave clear testimony that God gave pastors to his church to teach and equip God's people for ministry. The letters of the apostles that we now call epistles were written to instruct us in the right path as we walk in Christ. In the late 1700s, a new form of worship was created by our English ancestors and was called the Sunday School. This tradition combined with Bible study groups has become a vital area of the church. If you seek to find depths in Christ and to be an integral part of First Church, we urge you to join a class. Click for a list of Adult Sunday School classes.
Integration and Depth
One of the strengths of the Sunday School program at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene is the integration of the morning message with the Sunday school lesson. Beginning when our children reach the youth group, Sunday school lessons follow the same topic as the morning message. Books and/or study guides are always available for everyone in the congregation to assist you with your study during the week. We believe this method provides a framework that allows everyone to go deeper into every topic and discussion each week. The ultimate goal is to allow you to grow more like Christ and allow his transforming grace to be active in your life each and every day.
